ABOUT THE ARCHITECT
For Jeremy Sturgess, Architecture = Art. His goal is always to “take on” the persona of his clients in order to best represent their wishes. His buildings stand out; his use of texture, shape and space always make for visually stunning yet functional creations. He won the 1997 Award of Excellence for this stunning and unique lake front home and it was show-cased in the December 1997 Western Living.
A few of his other notable achievements are:
-1983 Governor General's Award for his design of Squirrel Corner housing development in Banff, which was designed to surround and preserve some magnificent trees in the centre of the site
-with his partner, designed the Alberta Pavilion for Expo 1986
-1997 won the Governor General's medal for architecture for designing the Yukon Visitors Reception Centre
-2000, Marronnier Award for the Chuzenji Kanaya Hotel in Japan. This was the first time that this award, for environmental fit of a building to it's site, was awarded to a foreign architect
